MLB – 2nd Half Begins – Twins vs. Athletics!

With the 2015 MLB season ending the first half with the All-Star Game on Tuesday the 14th of July, then the 2nd half of the season gets underway, and on Friday the 17th of July 2015 we will see the Twins of Minnesota playing the Athletics of Oakland, with the game being played at the Oakland County Coliseum in Oakland, California, and the game time is 10:05 PM ET.

At the end of the 1st half of the season the Twins finished with 49 wins and 40 losses and that put them just 4 ½ games behind the 1st place in the AL Central the Royals of Kansas City as on Sunday they beat the Tigers of Detroit.

If you Bet on baseball and are a fan of the Minnesota Twins, your twin finished the 1st half of the season with an impressive win over the Detroit 7-1 this past Sunday the 12th of July 2015.  Then they start the 2nd half of the season on Friday playing the Athletics of Oakland with 41 wins and 50 losses in the 1st game of a 3 game series. In that game against the Tigers M. Sano hit a 2 run homerun and K. Gibson was strong on the mound for the Twins in their 3rd straight victory.

Seeking to continue their win streak, the twins will start E. Santana who is 0-0 and with an ERA of 6.00.  After an 80 game suspension for drug abuse, Santana will start his 3rd game this season. In his last start against the Tigers he was pounded for 8 hits and 6 runs in 4 innings of pitching, but the Twins still managed to win that game 8-6.

But to win this game the Twins must step up and improve their hitting as presently they are 10th in MLB with 363 RBI’s and they look to B. Dozier to continue his lead, as in his career against Oakland he is averaging .400 and he leads the Twins for homers with 19 to date and has some 50 RBI’s to date.  In the last 10 road games for the Twins they are with 4 wins and 6 losses.

For the fans of the Athletics of Oakland your team upped their unbeaten streak to 2 games with their win over Cleveland this past Sunday 2-0. Their pitcher S. Gray now has an ERA of 2.04 and has 10 wins with only 3 losses. In that game with Cleveland he allowed 2 hits on his shutout, which is his 3rd in his career.

Seeking to continue their win streak the Athletics would like to win over the Twins this coming Friday, as they start S. Gray in that game. In his 2 starts against Oakland Gray has 2 win with 0 losses and an ERA of 5.40. In the last five games that Gray started for Oakland they won 4 of those 5 games.

Oakland will be looking for S. Vogt to lead the offensive charge as he has been hot as he leads Oakland with homers at 14 and in RBI’s with 56. In their game against Cleveland Vogt hit the homer that scored 2 runs to win the game for Oakland at 2-0.  In the Athletics last 10 games at home they have 4 wins and 6 losses.

The experts predict that Oakland will be the Twins 4-2 while playing on home turf.

MLB ALL-STAR Betting Preview

The 2015 MLB All-Star game is right around the corner which means that the 1st half of the 2015 MLB Season coming to an end. July 14, 2015 is the date set for the All-Star Game so let’s take a look at how the voting for the players turned out.

The first thing that the MLB Betting Sportsook noticed is that the Kansas City Royals have 4 starters on the roster, and J. Donaldson of the American League lead all players getting the most votes for the 2015 MLB All-Star Game with 14 million votes.

That is some tally of votes for one player, and that sets a new record for a single season, while B. Harper of the National League with just fewer than 14 million votes.

The voters chose nine American League players, and eight National League players and all by votes of the fans. The fans elected all starting players for both teams except the reserve players, designated hitters and starting pitchers. The rest of the players will be selected by National League Manager B. Bochy and American League Manager N. Yost.

The starters were announced on the 6th of July 2015 while the reserves were announced on Monday night the 7th of July on the ESPN show for selections. The total number for each team’s roster is 34 players. Those players will be determined by the managers and players themselves.

In all, the players elect nine NL players for their team, and the AL players elect some eight players for their team along with 5 starters and 3 relief pitchers. If you’re wondering why the NL has 9 starters and the AL has just 8 starters, that’s because the AL uses a designated hitter.

Then the Managers complete the rest of the rosters with the exception of 1 spot the 34th player for each team, and that will be again selected by a 2nd online vote by the fans, and that is from a pool of five players completed by the managers after which all 33 players for each team has been presented.

Two of the present selected starters are injured as Marlins right fielder G. Stanton with a hand injury and the Tigers 1st baseman M. Cabrera with a left calf injury. Their replacements will be selected by their managers. Injured players are allowed to participate in the ceremonies and their status as an All-Star for 2015 will not change.

So let’s take a look at the Starters:

For the American League:

  • Catcher – from the Royals – S. Perez
  • 1st Baseman – from the Tigers – M. Cabrera
  • 2nd Baseman – from the Astros – J. Altuve
  • Shortstop – from the Royals – A. Escobar
  • 3rd Baseman – from the Blue Jays – J. Donaldson
  • Outfielder – from the Angeles – M. Trout
  • Outfielder – from the Royals – L. Cain
  • Outfielder – from the Royals – A. Gordon
  • Designated Hitter – from the Mariners – N. Cruz

For the National League

  • Catcher – from the Giants – B. Posey
  • 1st Baseman – from the Diamondbacks – P. Goldschmidt
  • 2nd Baseman – from the Marlins – D. Gordon
  • Shortstop – from the Cardinals – J. Peralta
  • 3rd Baseman – from the Reds – T. Frazier
  • Outfielder – from the Nationals – B. Harper
  • Outfielder – from the Cardinals – M. Holiday
  • Outfielder – from the Marlins – G. Stanton

If you are one to Bet on MLB and are looking for a great online sportsbook experience, remember the injured starting players selected for this 2015 All-Star game will be replaced by the perspective managers.

Meanwhile get ready for the game on the Tuesday the 14th of July 2015 at 7 PM ET at the Great American Ball Park in Cincinnati, Ohio.

How to Bet on the NFL

How does one Bet on the NFL football when it’s such a physical game? Well that a good question but in reality, it’s the most popular sport in America and more people bet on the NFL than any other sport in the United States.

So let’s take a look at the various types of NFL bets that are offered at the online sports betting parlors and sites around the world. There are Points Spreads, Money Lines, Totals, Parlay & Teasers Half-Times and Futures.  Check out this sports betting glossary to learn more about different types of betting.

The Point Spread is the favorite way of betting on the NFL because like many sports that the teams score a lot of points, the betting is determined from the point spread. The point spread/line is a side bet in nature that evens the chance of winning the bet. When a line is posted for a team, it is accompanies with the – or the + sign which indicated the games underdog or favorite.

Here’s an example of the point spread:

Teams –                           Game Time Spread –                 Final Score
Denver Broncos              -9 (-110)                                            23
KC Chiefs                           +9 (-110)                                            20

Under normal circumstances the number next to the point spread is at (-110) and that is generally called the odds, vig or juice. Which is the fraction of the wager received, if the bet wins? In this case, the winning bet with Denver for $110 won $100. In the example even as Denver win the game, the Chiefs did cover the spread as they lost the game but covered the spread as they lost the game by less than the 9 point spread, and that’s an important part of sports betting, and that is to get the pest point spread/line by looking around.

Another popular NFL bet is the Money Line that can be a winner if one bets on the underdog, and is driven by the phrase “on any given Sunday.” The Money Line Bet is placed on either the Underdog or the Favorite to win straight out.

An example is from a recent NFL Season:

N. E. Patriots -500 Dallas Cowboys + 350.

In this case to win $100 on the Patriots you must bet $500, where a $100 bet on the Cowboys returns $350. In cases similar bettors, due to the high risk, may choose to risk betting a smaller amount on the Patriot’s, called fading, as many do. In this particular case the Patriots won the game as did the faders.

Most sports betting generally are on the final score of each game, but in the NFL and NBA for example, they offer in most games, Spreads/Lines for betting on the First (1st) Quarter and First (1st) Half also. The Quarter Point Spread/Line is for betting on who will be winning at the end of the 1st quarter. The 2nd half bet is similar, but the bet ends when the 1st 2 quarters of the game are finished. Normally the 1st half spread/line is 50% of the overall spread/line projected for the Game.

Then there are the Point Spread/Lines for the Halftimes. Theses bets are considered as in game bets that are completed during the Games halftime. Then the 2nd half point spread/line takes into account the score in the first half for determining how the balance of the game (2nd half) finishes. Here’s an example:

Team Halftime Score Halftime Spread Final
Denver Broncos 12 +3 (-110) 27
K.C. Chiefs 16 -3 (-110) 23

In the spreads/lines for half times, the game basically restarts for the 2nd half a 0 to 0, thus in this example the Chiefs are anticipated to beat the Broncos by 3 points for the 2nd half of that game. A Bet on the Broncos for the 2nd half of $110 would bring a back $100 as they beat the spread and won the game. Since the bets are placed at halftime, and that leave a short period of time, normally few bets are actually placed on halftimes compared to full game bets.

Then there are the Totals also called Over/Under. The method behind the madness in this bet is you bet on whether the Total score in the game will go over of under the score predicted by the odds makers, sportsbooks or betting sites. An example would be:

Team Total or O/U Final Score
Packers of Green Bay 43.5o (-105) 32
Steelers of Pittsburgh 43.5u (-115) 26

The example shows the combined score of that Game at 58, and with the line offered at a reduced vig/juice, a bet on the over 43.5 of just $105 would win $100.

Certainly many players like Parlay and Teasers. The Parlay bets are place in conjunction with the point spread/line, money line or totals to increase one’s winnings. You only win with a Parlay bet when all your select teams win their individual games. A Teaser like a Parlay, with the exception you get points in your favor to assist you bet to becoming a winner. An example for a teaser is if the posted line for a game was -12 and you take a 6 point teaser, then you new betting line -5. Remember this may reduce your risks but you still have to win each game in your teaser, and the odds certainly would be reduced for the win amount. A lot of sportsbooks and betting sites allow players to take up to 15 picks in a parlay and if all teams in the Parlay were at -110, the payout would be 16,306.94 to 1! Then here are some examples of teams and Parlay odds.

# Teams – Payoff   # Teams – Payoff   # Teams – Payoff     # Teams – Payoff
         2         2.64/1       3           6/1             4           12.28/1       5       24.35/16       47.41/1       7       91.42/1         8         175.44/1       9       335.85/110       642.08/1     11   1225.70/1       12       2342.79/1     13       4473.51/1

14     8541.25/1     15 16306.94/1

Last but not least are Future bet and they are what they sound like, a bet placed on an event that will take place in the future whether it be soon or in an extended time period. One can imaging on a yearly basis the most popular NFL future’s bet, is who will win this year’s SuperBowl.

Normally, the next years futures odds are posted a week after the finish of the present year’s SuperBowl. If you Bet on NFL at a Sportsbook, surely you know that futures are no just limited to a win in a big game, as there are various potential futures bets on an event from who will win an event to who will be the MVP in the game.

Also, at each track they have their own program for each day and they provide similar information.

Belmont Stakes Betting TutorialThen one need to know the stars as the trainers and jockeys can have a great influence on the performance of each horse.

Thus choosing a winner, on some occasions can simply be as easy as choosing a horse with successful humans connected to them. In the State of New York there are many active legendary jockeys, trainers and horsemen who daily compete at the racetracks in N.Y.

Check out what the experts have to say, like public handicappers, and those that work for the racetracks and racing publication around the country, as they are person that make a living with their knowledge and ability to understand the past performances of horses and how they can pick winners from the field.

In New York the selections are offered online in the Post Parade program. The each and every race day the track experts break down the races on the daily Talking Horses programs, which are available via the NYRA TV, as well as online. Also, remember horse racing fans absolutely love to share their information and knowledge, or lack of, to the newcomers to the track, and do not hesitate to ask.

Next one has to decide what type of Bet they want to make.

The EASY types of horse bets are:

  • Win – here you horse has to win
  • Place – in this case your horse must finish first or second, Show – here your pick must finish 1st. 2nd or 3rd
  • Across the Board – this is separate win, place & show bets of the same equal amounts on the same horse.

In these types of bets the minimum bet is $1, and the across the board would cost $3 since it consists of 3 separate bets.

The MEDIUM types of Horse bets are:

  • Exacta – where one has to pick the 1st two horses in the exact order.
  • Quinella – one must pick the 1st two horse in whatever order.
  • Trifecta – here you pick the 1st three horses in exact order.
  • Daily Double – you pick the winners of 2 consecutive races.

The minimum bet for these are also $1.

The HARD types of bets are:

  • Superfectas – you pick the 1st four horses in exact order
  • Gran Slam – you pick a horse to finish in the top three in three consecutive races and that capped by the winner of the 4th race in order. When there is no show betting in 1 of the 1st three legs, the horse will have to come in 2nd
  • Pick 3 – you pick the winners of 3 straight races
  • Pick 4 – you pick the winner of 4 straight races.
  • Pick 6 – you must pick the winners of 6 straight races. The minimum bet for the Grand slam and the pick 3 is $1.

Smaller bets can be made on Superfectas, where 10¢ is the minimum, and Pick Fours, which can be bet for 50¢. The minimum bet for a Pick 6 is $2.

Now it time to make your bet, and no matter what bet you making the format is basically the same at the betting window at the track or online.

You give the teller the following information in this order:

  1. Track name,
  2. the race,
  3. amount to bet,
  4. Bet type, and
  5. Horses number.

Some examples would be:

Example 1 – Win Bet

Belmont, race one, two dollars to win on the five.

Example 2 – Exacta Bet

Belmont, race one, one dollar exacta box on the two and five.

Example 3 – Daily Double Bet

Belmont, race one, two dollar double on the two and five with the one and four.

You can get more knowledge about the horse betting by checking out this sports betting glossary where most gambling terms are defined.

Also, at the track one can bet at the self-service terminals throughout the Belmont racetrack, and if you care to, you can bet by phone, on your mobile device or online, but you need to sign up for a NYRA Rewards account at the service booths around our track facility.

Ok so you bet and got a winner, now what? Just take your ticket back to the payout windows to cash in! Your winning payout amount will be based on how much was bet on each horse in that race you bet on. The reason being, that betting on horse racing uses a pari-mutuel wagering system.

The odds can change solely on how bets are place. The odds “morning line” which are those odds displayed in the day’s program, are the expert analysis of what the odds are likely to be at race post time. While the track extracts a % of all bets made, the racetrack has absolutely no interest in who win the race. The “takeout” funds the state, organization, and racing itself.

Unlike other forms of betting where “the house always wins,” we’re thrilled when you win! Please take note that NYRA can only pay off on winning wagers in accordance with the relevant complete betting rules of the New York State Gaming Commission (NYSGC) codified at 9(e) NYCRR.

The New England Revolution team recently increased their home streak of undefeated games in league play to some 14 games, and that is a new club record.
